STORE MANAGERS & ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Mike Collins: Santa Fe, New MexicoAt age sixteen, Mike began working for Woolworth's as a stock boy in his hometown, San Francisco. He grew to become the District Manager for twenty-one of their stores in Idaho, California and in Nevada. Woolworth's downsized in 1992, and Mike then became the manager of their successful Santa Fe store. When they closed all their stores in 1997, he turned the former Santa Fe store into the first Five & Dime General Store. He is also CEO and Co-Manager of UTBW, LLC.
Bob Collins: San Antonio, TexasAt age seventeen, Bob had his first job with Woolworth’s in San Francisco. Beginning in 1984, he managed their California stores in Echo Park, Pasadena, El Cajon, San Jose, Mountain View, and on Los Angeles’s La Cienega Blvd. When Woolworth’s closed its stores in 1997, Bob managed Office Max and Michael’s stores in San Jose, Bakersfield, and Nipomo (near San Luis Obispo). He moved to San Antonio in 2003, to open our second store (on the Riverwalk), then opened our fourth store (on Alamo Plaza) 2007.
Karramae Campbell: Branson, MissouriKarramae started with the Five and Dime family when our Branson store first opened. In January, 2009, she was promoted to manager. Before working with us, she was manager of Sonya's Leather and Gifts in Branson. She is a former district manager for Bath Junkie, Inc., and has managed several stores in Arkansas. She and her husband learned to drive an eighteen-wheeler, and she was a cross country driver for five years.
Brian Kanbara: San Diego, CaliforniaBrian is a Woolworth's veteran and an expert manager. He managed stores for Woolwoth's for over twenty-five years. He ran their stores in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in California's Fountain Valley, Riverside, Orange, Torrance, Santa Monica, plus three stores in San Francisco. After Woolworth's closed in 1997, he managed stores for Michael's Arts and Crafts for approximately eleven years, in Santa Monica and Torrance, California.
Denise Nielsen: Monterey, CaliforniaDenise joined the Five & Dime, San Diego, store as an Assistant Manager in 2009. When we opened the Monterey store, she moved there and was promoted to the position of store manager. She has 25 years of retail experience as a buyer/manager for Nordstrom San Diego, Loews Coronado Bay Resort's gift shop, Point Loma Nazarene University's book store and her own Coastal Cottage gift boutique. She also has a masters degree in business administration.
Joe Pham: Charleston, South CarolinaJoe opened our Charleston store, which he oversees while he manages the Savannah store. Arriving in the US at age 13, he earned a BS in Business from the Univ. of Nebraska in 1981. Then he joined Woolworth's and became manager of their Hollywood, California, store. He managed their California stores in Glendale and Downey then was sent to Hawaii to run their Waikiki store, open new stores, and manage several others. When Woolworth's closed its US stores, he became a manager for Wal-Mart, then CVS, in Las Vegas.
Joe Pham: Savannah, GeorgiaAfter successfully opening our Charleston store, Joe and his family have moved to Savannah so he can oversee our east coast growth. Arriving in the US at age 13, he earned a BS in Business from the Univ. of Nebraska. Then he joined Woolworth's and soon became manager of their Hollywood, California store. David Troutman: Kansas City, KansasDavid joined our Five & Dime family in January, 2013 to manage the Kansas City, Kansas store. Prior to working with us, David spent sixteen years managing musical equipment stores and seventeen years selling Audio/Video equipment. He is an avid antique collector, and has been a professional drummer for decades. He has performed with many touring bands, including playing for The Drifters and Tammy Wynette. He has a BA in Business and Music Performance from Missouri State Western University.
Kristen Lynch: Accounting ManagerWe were very happy to add Kristen to our team in 2012. She is located in our Santa Fe office, and oversees our accounting and business details. She had been our "go to" person at a large accounting firm until we became so large we needed to keep her all to ourselves. Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, she moved to Santa Fe in 1996. She had eight years of experience in retail while managing and doing the accounting for a supermarket. However, her dream was to devote her talents to accounting, which she has been able to do since 2006. She holds an associate's degree in accounting from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and an associate's degree in business from Central New Mexico Community College. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from New Mexico Highlands University. She is a treasured and essential member of our growing team.
