Each Five & Dime General Store helps keep a community vital. When a resident of one of our store's cities needs a new battery, an aspirin, an extension cord, a new tube of toothpaste or a cold remedy, it can easily be found. The tourist areas don't have to be "off limits" to locals. Employees of businesses in these busy areas can walk—instead of drive— to a store that meets their daily needs. This preserves the hometown feeling so many of us want to protect in these areas. Each store provides jobs for over a dozen people in its community, each store brings local vendors and supply workers to the tourist areas, and each store helps to keep the tourists coming back to the community. They like to feel at home.
